Hi to everybody,

I had installed the database 10g in my laptop and it is running fine whenever I am connected in our office local area network (LAN) but i found out that whenever I am disconnected from the LAN, the oracle database console (OraDBConsole______) services in WinXP SP 2 is not starting whenever I am restarting OS which the developer forms (Forms 6i) runtime is also not running whenever this OraDBConsole services is stopped. I need any solution of running the OraDBConsole services away from the LAN or disconnected from the LAN so that I can use my laptop even it is detach from our LAN, thank you in advance.

Is you laptop set up with DHCP? If so, check Installing Oracle Database on DHCP Computers.

But does the database eventually start? You'll sometimes encounter this on Windows, but you'll notice the database starts fine within a few seconds.

You'll notice that if you click OK to that message, the service's status should show "Starting". If you refresh the services pane after a few moments, the status should show "Started".

Try it several times successively.
It may just be before the service starts in a time just less the the time-out and in this case it is just more than it.

Have a look at event log.

thank you very much for the reply. It is both working on DHCP as well as on static IP address, anyhow I had tried Installing a Loopback Adapter on OS and it did re-start the service automatically but when I am trying to connect my Developer forms 6i i have this message ORA-12528: Message 12528 not found; product=RDMS80;facility =ORA . any configuration should i modify in the Oracle side?

This might help:

12528, 00000, "TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections"
// *Cause: All instances supporting the service requested by the client
// reported that they were blocking the new connections. This condition may be
// temporary, such as at instance startup.
// *Action: Attempt the connection again. If error persists, then contact the
// administrator to check the status of the instances

Hi again...

I have no problem with the database, it's working just fine. but the deal is that I can't open the OEM, I figured that the console service is part of the problem!

Thx.

What do you mean when you say you can't open OEM?

Have you checked the OEM logs in %ORACLE_HOME%/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log directory ?

You can try the following:

In the %ORACLE_HOME%\bin\LaunchEMiasconsole.pm file add -XX:+ForceTimeHighResolution to the front of the line that contains -XmxNNN. Then try to restart the Windows service.

I was looking for the file U gave me and here are all the files I found:

DBConsole.pm
EMAgent.pm
IASConsole.pm
EMDeploy.pm
EmctlCommon.pm

So, which one is the one I'm after?

Thx

I tried it, but first I think I have 2 drop the existing Repository, because I got this message:

SEVERE: Repository already exists. Fix the error(s) and run EM Configuration Assistant again in standalone mode.

Should I drop the Repository? How?

Thx

Alright I got this, I'm I missing something?

I assume you are on 10.1 then. If that's the case, you need to use:

emca -x <sid>
%ORACLE_HOME%\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\RepManager <hostname> <listener_port> <sid> -action drop

I'm not sure if U meant to use the command line on one or two steps! but I tried them both anyway...

Here R the results:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>emca -x highlife

STARTED EMCA at Wed Jan 09 14:53:15 EET 2008
09/01/2008 02:53:15 ع oracle.sysman.emcp.EMConfig stopOMS
INFO: Stopping the DBConsole ...
Enterprise Manager configuration is completed successfully
FINISHED EMCA at Wed Jan 09 14:53:16 EET 2008

I figured 2 use the path also as specified:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>emca -x highlife E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_3\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\RepManager intruder 5500 highlife -action drop

In your case %ORACLE_HOME% is E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_3. Therefore, the second command is simply:

E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_3\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\RepManager intruder 5500 highlife -action drop

Unless you mis-typed in your reply, they are different:

-- Yours --
C:\WINDOWS\system32>emca -x highlife E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_3\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\RepManager intruder 5500 highlife -action drop

-- Mine --
E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_3\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\RepManager intruder 5500 highlife -action drop

Mine does not have the emca -x highlife preceding the command.

Can you find the RepManager executable on your system? This page describes all the necessary steps (Dropping the Management Repository).

U C my friend I found the RepManager has no file extension and when I want 2 start it it gives me nothing:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_3\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\
RepManager intruder 1521 python -action drop
'E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_3sysman\admin\emdrep\bin\RepManager' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Take a look here for all the details of recreating the DB repository. I really have no idea why RepManager wouldn't be located in %ORACLE_HOME%\sysman\admin\emdrep\bin.
