Hello Friends,

I have 300GB oracle 9.2.0.4 database on Solaris 5.8.
I have to upgrade(and migrate) it to oracle 10R2 on HP-UX.
I have different options to do this like follows

1. Export/Import
Desc: step1:Take the full database export from source database.
step2:Install Oracle 10R2 on HP-UX plus patch set & cpu.
step3:create new database.
step4:import the dump file.
step5:Compile invalid objects.

2. Database links:
Desc: Not very sure about this.

3. Cross platform tablespace.
Desc: step1: Install Oracle 10R2 on the same machine(Solaris)
but in different oracle home.
step2: Upgrade the database(following complete procedure
discuss in guide).
step3: Start the databse with 10R2 home.
Step4: Using Cross Platform tablespace to move this
database to HP-UX.

Now, here i have some doubts
In method 1: How much time it gonna take to export
what configuration i should keep in my new database
???

In method 2: I don't have idea to do this and not sure how much
time i sould spend in writing select as statements
fro every object.

In method 3: The major problem for me here is I cant install new
10r2 software in my old machine since we are not
sure that it will allow us to do so because of
lack of resources.
Even if i am installing it in my new server.
Then the downtime= export+import+transportable+strt
if not downtime atleast export/import + TTS.

I want to know which way is better for me and what good points
i can mention to my manager related to that way.

Please suggest me.

Regards,

Ibnhussain
